Operate essential machinery and contribute to the smooth operation of our logistics facility in Detroit, Michigan, as a Forklift Operator. This role is crucial for the efficient movement, storage, and retrieval of materials within our warehouse. You will be responsible for safely operating forklifts to transport goods, load and unload trucks, and manage inventory placement. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, experienced, and possesses a valid forklift certification. We maintain a strong commitment to safety, requiring rigorous adherence to all operational procedures and the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This position involves frequent operation of heavy machinery and may require assisting with manual Lifting as needed. Responsibilities:
- Safely operate forklifts to move, stack, and unstack pallets and materials.
- Load and unload trucks efficiently and securely.
- Transport goods between different areas of the warehouse.
- Perform pre-operation checks on forklifts to ensure safety and functionality.
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and inventory placement.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including strict PPE usage.
- Assist with inventory management and cycle counts as needed.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure smooth workflow and efficient logistics.
- Perform manual Lifting and handling of materials when necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Forklift Operator certification.
- Proven experience operating various types of forklifts in a warehouse environment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and regulations.
- Proficiency in using PPE correctly.
- Ability to perform pre-operation inspections and basic maintenance checks.
- Good spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina for tasks that may involve occasional manual Lifting.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Familiarity with logistics and inventory management principles is a plus.
