Our growing logistics company in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a dedicated Shipping Clerk to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and processing outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Your duties will include preparing shipping documents, verifying package contents, scheduling carrier pickups, and maintaining shipping records. Responsibilities:
- Process and prepare all outgoing shipments accurately and efficiently.
- Verify shipping information against customer orders, ensuring all items are included and correctly labeled.
- Generate shipping labels and prepare necessary documentation, such as bills of lading.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers for pickup and delivery schedules.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date shipping records.
- Operate shipping software and utilize warehouse equipment as needed.
- Conduct regular checks on inventory to ensure accuracy for shipments.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external carriers regarding shipment status.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the logistics and warehouse operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a shipping clerk or in a related logistics role is preferred.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to perform lifting tasks, with the capacity for lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of shipping regulations and logistics best practices.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the proper use of PPE.
