Our growing logistics company in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is seeking a meticulous Shipping Clerk to join our team. This role is fundamental to our outbound operations, ensuring that all shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and meet all carrier requirements. The Shipping Clerk will be responsible for preparing shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, and managing the dispatch of orders. A strong focus on accuracy and adherence to safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is crucial.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all necessary shipping documents, including bills of lading, manifests, and customs forms.
- Verify shipment contents against sales orders to ensure accuracy before dispatch.
- Coordinate with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, LTL freight) to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Ensure all packages are properly labeled, weighed, and dimensioned for shipping.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update order statuses in the logistics system.
- Communicate with warehouse staff, sales, and customer service regarding shipment status and any issues.
- Operate shipping equipment such as scales, pallet wrappers, and label printers.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and warehouse procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
- Conduct final checks on outgoing orders to confirm accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with other warehouse functions as directed to support overall logistics efficiency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping, logistics, or administrative role is preferred.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and carrier portals.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to perform moderate lifting, up to 30 lbs.
- Familiarity with warehouse safety practices and the importance of PPE.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
