We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Material Handler to join our logistics team in Richmond, Virginia. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for the movement of materials, components, and finished goods throughout our warehouse facility. Your duties will include loading and unloading trucks, operating various types of material handling equipment, and ensuring the organized storage of inventory. This role is critical to maintaining the smooth operation of our supply chain and requires a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and precision. You will work closely with other warehouse personnel to ensure materials are available where and when needed. The ideal candidate will have experience with different types of warehouse machinery and a solid understanding of material handling best practices within the logistics sector. Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from trucks and other transport vehicles.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Move materials to and from production areas, storage locations, and shipping docks.
- Stack and arrange materials in designated storage areas, ensuring stability and accessibility.
- Assist with inventory control, including counting and tracking materials.
- Maintain equipment in good working order and report any malfunctions.
- Follow all safety regulations and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Identify and report any damaged materials or safety hazards.
- Organize and maintain the warehouse in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Support shipping and receiving operations as needed.
- Ensure materials are staged and prepared for shipment according to schedule.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures related to logistics and warehouse operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift operator certification or the ability to obtain one.
- Proficiency in operating various types of material handling equipment.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, up to 70 pounds.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and the importance of PPE.
- Good spatial awareness and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of inventory management and logistics.
- Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment.
