Lawn Mowing Foreman

Job Description

The lawn‐mowing foreman leads a team daily mowing, trimming, edging, and maintaining residential or commercial properties. The foreman ensures work is completed efficiently, safely, and to company standards while serving as the primary on‐site contact.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations — Coordinate tasks, direct crew members, and ensure all mowing and trimming work is completed on schedule.
• Operate and maintain equipment — Use commercial mowers, trimmers, blowers, and related tools; perform basic maintenance and report mechanical issues.
• Quality control — Inspect completed work, ensure proper mowing patterns, edging, and cleanup, and correct deficiencies.
• Safety oversight — Enforce safety procedures, conduct equipment checks, and ensure proper use of PPE.
• Customer communication — Interact professionally with clients, address concerns, and relay service updates to management.
• Route and time management — Plan efficient daily routes, track job times, and ensure productivity targets are met.
• Training and supervision — Coach new crew members on equipment use, mowing techniques, and company standards.
• Site documentation — Record completed work, report property issues, and submit daily logs or digital updates.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in lawn care or grounds maintenance, including commercial mowing equipment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform minor repairs.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license: ability to tow trailers if required.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high‐quality work.
• Basic understanding of turf health, mowing heights, and seasonal practices.

Typical Work Environment

• Outdoor, physical work with exposure to heat, cold, and weather changes.
• Fast‐paced schedule with multiple job sites per day.
• Frequent use of commercial mowers, trimmers, blowers, and trailers.
