Job Overview
The Trade Compliance Support Associate supports daily operations by ensuring that all inbound and outbound shipments meet Canadian, U.S., and international regulatory requirements. The position also helps develop, implement, and maintain HCM’s trade compliance program, including adherence to Canada‑United States‑Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) guidelines. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, strong in data analysis, collaborates well with internal and external partners, and has a solid understanding of international trade regulations.

Work Schedule
- Day shift with available overtime and weekend work, and shutdown support
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development, implementation, and management of HCM trade compliance programs
- Ensure Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) guidelines and requirements are met
- Support Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) & Partners in Protection/Customs Self-Assessment (PIP/CSA) certification
- Support inbound and outbound shipment trade and compliance requirements
- Act as a liaison with Honda Canada, American Honda Motor Co., Honda Trading, and Livingston brokerage
- Ensure proper classification of machinery and goods in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) for Canada and the USA
- Manage and issue certificates of origin and ensure compliance with CUSMA for imports and exports
- Act as the primary representative for Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), customers, and third-party audit requests.
- Support duty drawback or remission programs and ensure proper application
- Investigate and resolve any compliance issues or discrepancies
Requirements:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in international Trade, Customs, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel; ability to use advanced functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, PivotTables) and manage and format data
Preferred Experience:
- Willing to pursue Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) and/or Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) designations
- Knowledge of brokerage, duty and tariff mitigation, and supply chain processes
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects by defining objectives, resources, and approaches
- Ability to analyze data and evaluate results, with solid mathematical aptitude and attention to detail
- Demonstrated previous experience preparing and delivering presentations
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple and conflicting demands
- Ability to investigate problems, develop solutions, and deliver results
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
