Join our growing team as a Material Handler in Detroit, Michigan! We are looking for dedicated individuals to manage the flow of materials throughout our busy warehouse. This role is vital for our overall logistics operations, ensuring that products are handled efficiently from receipt to dispatch. Responsibilities include receiving inventory, stocking shelves, fulfilling orders, and preparing shipments. A keen eye for detail and a commitment to workplace safety are paramount. You will be expected to operate various pieces of material handling equipment and maintain an organized and clean workspace. This position involves regular lifting and physical activity in a dynamic warehouse setting. We provide comprehensive training on our procedures and insist on the correct usage of all required PPE. Collaboration with colleagues and adherence to company guidelines are key to success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming materials and compare purchase orders to items received.
- Sort, organize, and place materials or products in designated storage areas.
- Pick and pack orders according to instructions, ensuring accuracy.
- Load finished goods onto trucks for shipment.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory management.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, free from hazards.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of appropriate PPE.
- Assist with shipping and receiving documentation.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the logistics process.
Qualifications:
- Previous warehouse or material handling experience is a plus.
- Must be able to handle lifting requirements, often up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with basic logistics and warehouse procedures.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and wearing required PPE.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or GED required.
