Seeking a Receiving Clerk for our Houston, Texas facility! This is a vital position responsible for managing all incoming shipments and ensuring the accuracy of our inventory. You will be the gatekeeper for goods entering our warehouse, performing inspections, verifying contents against documentation, and entering data into our logistics system. Accuracy, attention to detail, and a commitment to Safety are paramount. This role requires individuals who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and maintain organized records.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming freight, verifying the accuracy of deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Inspect all received merchandise for damage, defects, or discrepancies.
- Accurately document all received goods using our inventory management software.
- Stage received items for internal distribution or put-away in the correct warehouse locations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the receiving area.
- Adhere strictly to all company Safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, safely as needed, which may involve significant Lifting.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, carriers, and internal departments regarding shipment status and issues.
- Participate in inventory audits and cycle counts as required.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the logistics process by performing duties accurately and promptly.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in warehouse receiving, shipping, or inventory control is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with computers, scanners, and basic inventory software.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent Lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Understanding of basic warehouse operations and logistics procedures.
- Commitment to workplace Safety and adherence to all PPE guidelines.
