We have an exciting opportunity for a Receiving Clerk in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this critical role, you will be the first point of contact for incoming goods, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our logistics supply chain. Your responsibilities will include unloading shipments, inspecting goods for damage, verifying quantities against purchase orders, and accurately entering data into our inventory system. We are looking for meticulous individuals who understand the importance of detail and Safety in a warehouse environment. A strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively in a team are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming shipments from trucks using appropriate equipment.
- Inspect all received goods for damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
- Verify quantities and item details against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Accurately record received inventory into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Tag and stage received items for put-away or further processing.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
- Adhere strictly to all company Safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely when necessary, which may involve handling materials requiring significant Lifting.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, drivers, and internal departments regarding receiving activities.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency and accuracy of the logistics operations through diligent work.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a warehouse receiving or inventory control role is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in using scanners and basic computer systems for data entry.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Understanding of warehouse operations and logistics principles.
- Commitment to maintaining a high level of workplace Safety and adhering to all PPE guidelines.
