Intern AI Developer (Part-Time) Location: London Salary: Competitive Do you want to work in the Legal & Tax department of the largest sovereign wealth fund in the world? Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) is looking for a talented student with a passion for coding and AI to join part-time our Capital Markets & Litigation team, part of Legal & Tax Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a student at any stage from second-year undergraduate through to PhD level, studying computer science, AI, machine learning, law, or a related field. Legal & Tax is NBIM's centralised legal function, with people based in London, Luxembourg, New York, and Oslo. We advise all of NBIM's business areas on their legal and tax requirements across the investment portfolio — both listed and unlisted assets. The Capital Markets & Litigation team advises on capital markets transactions, financial regulation, and disputes. In this role, you will work closely with the team to develop AI-powered tools that improve how we work, with a particular focus on a regulatory horizon scanning tool to monitor global regulatory developments. You will also collaborate with NBIM's Machine Learning & AI team, other legal teams, and colleagues in Risk and Compliance. The position is based in London and will report to Leon Sosnowski, Head of Capital Markets & Litigation. What you will do * Application Development: Design and build AI-powered tools and applications to enhance the effectiveness of the Capital Markets & Litigation team. * Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Lead the development of a tool to monitor, aggregate, and analyse global regulatory developments relevant to NBIM's investment activities. * AI Integration: Develop and implement AI-based solutions to optimise legal workflows and improve data analysis, leveraging models such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. * Cross-Team Collaboration: Work alongside the Machine Learning & AI team and colleagues in Risk and Compliance to ensure tools are robust, scalable, and aligned with NBIM's broader technology strategy. * Technical Support: Help team members build confidence in using AI tools through informal knowledge sharing and practical guidance. Who you are * A student from second-year undergraduate to PhD level, in computer science, AI, machine learning, law, or a related discipline. * Proficient in Python and comfortable working with data APIs; experience with front-end technologies or legal, regulatory, and/or news databases is a plus. * Familiar with leading AI models and development environments, including Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. * Some experience with cloud platforms (AWS or similar) is an advantage. * Structured, self-driven, and proactive — you take initiative and bring ideas to the table. * A natural problem-solver who is energised by a challenge. * Collaborative and collegial — you enjoy working as part of a team as much as working independently. * Fluent in written and spoken English. * Entitled to work in the United Kingdom. Please note that NBIM is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role. Practical details * This is a part-time position at 40–50%, meaning you will typically work two to three days per week. We offer flexible working arrangements so that the role fits around your studies. * The placement will run initially until the end of 2026, with a tentative start date of early May. Extension beyond that period is possible by mutual agreement. * The position is based at NBIM's London office. Occasional travel to Oslo may be required. What we offer Norges Bank Investment Management offers a rewarding, international fast-paced working environment, and the opportunity to play a role in safeguarding and building financial wealth for future generations as part of one of the world’s largest funds.
