We are seeking an
Electrical & Automation Controls Engineer
to design, program, and support custom machine controls for pad printing and digital inkjet systems. In this role, you'll translate concepts into reliable automated solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop efficient, high-quality machines. Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Design panel layouts, schematics, and wire run lists using CAD tools; create and maintain supporting documentation including BOMs, specifications, and instruction sheets. Partner with Sales to define technical requirements for automation, controls, and coordinated movements for printers, tooling, and parts handling systems. Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to evaluate specialty components and integrate them effectively into custom machine designs. Actively participate in design reviews and work closely with engineering teams to develop efficient, cost-effective solutions. Support Technical Service and customer teams by providing guidance to troubleshoot and resolve machine control issues. Assist assembly technicians during component assembly and system builds as needed. Ensure all project data is properly collected, documented, reviewed, and archived in alignment with company procedures. Contribute to the creation of written instructions, user guides, and operation manuals. Promote and adhere to safe working practices and comply with all relevant safety regulations. Requirements - Knowledge, Skills, & Education
BS in Electrical Engineering preferred
plus 3-6 years of hands-on experience Experience with printing systems (Pad Printing or Digital Inkjet) is a plus. Proficiency with PLC and HMI platforms (Automation Direct, Allen Bradley, Panasonic). Strong programming skills in Ladder Logic and Structured Text. Experience with robotic systems and programming (Fanuc) preferred, but not required. Solid understanding of safety circuits, safety components, and industrial safety standards. Familiarity with machine vision systems (Keyence, Cognex) is a plus. Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical technologies, equipment, and related applications. Proficiency with schematic design software (SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical). Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with cost estimating and cost reduction initiatives. Strong ability to conceptualize, troubleshoot, and solve complex engineering challenges. Awareness of OSHA, CE, and CSA requirements. Excellent interpersonal communication skills-both written and verbal. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation.
