Pay Range: $53hr - $57hr
The Mechanical Design Engineer will perform advanced analytical and design activities focused on gas turbine rotor components. This role involves executing finite element analyses, conducting fracture mechanics and low cycle fatigue evaluations, supporting defect assessments, and collaborating across engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in ANSYS, Siemens NX, and rotor design principles. Key Responsibilities:
Finite Element And Structural Analysis:
Execute 2D and 3D gas turbine rotor finite element analyses using ANSYS. Perform post-processing activities including low cycle fatigue (LCF) crack initiation and propagation analysis. Evaluate bolted joint behavior and conduct strength assessments. Perform fracture mechanics analysis and defect evaluations. Summarize and document analytical results clearly and accurately. Design And CAD Modeling:
Pull CAD models from PLM systems. Modify and work with CAD models in Siemens NX. Support rotor design activities and structural evaluations. Ensure models meet analytical and design standards. Automation And Continuous Improvement:
Support automation of routine analytical tasks using Python as needed. Improve efficiency of recurring analysis workflows. Contribute to process improvements within the engineering team. Collaboration And Communication:
Present analysis results in routine project status meetings. Work collaboratively within cross-functional engineering teams. Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders. Support team-based problem solving and design reviews. Required Technical Skills:
3D CAD Modeling. NSYS Finite Element Analysis. Fracture Mechanics Analysis. Low Cycle Fatigue analysis. Rotor design experience. Siemens NX. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Nice To Have Skills:
Python automation. Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 6+ years of relevant work experience. Strong communication skills. Highly collaborative and effective in team environments.
