Senior Project Engineer - Data Center Design
is pivotal in setting standards, overseeing procurement, and designing data center facilities. Responsibilities: Manage the design of data center projects valued between $50-70 million annually. Oversee third-party architectural and engineering teams to ensure alignment with Iron Mountain standards. Collaborate with internal finance, sales, and operations teams to affirm data center fit-out and build programs. Engage with external parties, including developers, consultants, equipment manufacturers, construction managers, and project management firms to successfully deliver projects. Assist in evaluating potential data center acquisitions while coordinating with external consultants and Iron Mountain departments. Provide oversight on design and engineering, including budgeting, scheduling, and overall delivery for critical infrastructure projects. Support the sales engineering team in exploring options needed to secure business opportunities. Facilitate the procurement of long-lead, owner-furnished equipment for data center projects. Advocate for inclusion and diversity within the Design and Development team. Offer professional assistance as needed for global projects. Key Skills, Requirements and Competencies: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. 7 - 10+ years of experience in engineering required. Expertise in Mechanical or Electrical engineering is preferred. At least five years of experience managing project management teams. Minimum of ten years in design and construction project delivery. Extensive knowledge of complex electrical, mechanical, life safety, and control systems associated with critical facilities or data centers. Familiarity with national and local building codes. Strong professional written, presentation, and customer relationship skills. Ability to manage complex design programs and lead cross-organizational teams effectively. Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, partners, and internal customers. Willingness to travel approximately 25%, including overnight trips. Requires US Citizenship and the ability to travel internationally as needed. A Professional Engineering license is preferred but not required. Experience in Data Center Design and Construction is desirable.
