We are seeking a proactive Receiving Clerk to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. This role is fundamental to the accurate and efficient intake of all incoming goods into our warehouse. You will be responsible for unloading shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders, and ensuring all received items are processed correctly into our inventory system, supporting our critical logistics functions.
Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming freight from trucks, ensuring safe handling and proper placement.
- Verify the quantity and condition of goods received against purchase orders and shipping manifests.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, damages, or shortages immediately.
- Accurately document all received items in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) or relevant logs.
- Label and stage incoming inventory for distribution to appropriate warehouse areas.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area, adhering to all Safety standards.
- Operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Wear and properly utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory counts and stock organization as required.
- Perform tasks involving some moderate Lifting of received goods.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth workflow within the logistics chain.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse receiving role or logistics is preferred.
- Familiarity with WMS or inventory tracking systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including unloading, manual Lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to workplace Safety and following established procedures.
- Basic computer proficiency.
