We are hiring an experienced Forklift Operator for our busy warehouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The ideal candidate will be proficient in operating various types of forklifts and will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials within our logistics facility. This role requires a strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, and a commitment to safety at all times. Your primary focus will be to ensure that goods are moved, stored, and retrieved accurately and without damage, contributing to the smooth operation of our distribution center. Maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all regulations are key aspects of this position.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) to move, load, and unload materials.
- Transport raw materials, finished goods, and equipment within the warehouse.
- Stack and store materials in designated areas, ensuring stability and safety.
- Perform pre-operational checks on forklifts to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
- Assist with inventory management, including put-away, retrieval, and cycle counting.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including proper lifting techniques and the use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, keeping aisles clear and safe.
- Coordinate with other warehouse staff to ensure efficient workflow and logistics.
- Adhere to all company policies and warehouse regulations.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification or license.
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Experience with RF scanners and warehouse management systems is a plus.
