Richmond, Virginia is seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials within our distribution center. This role is critical to our overall logistics process, ensuring that inventory is accurately tracked and transported. You will operate various types of forklifts and other machinery, adhering strictly to all Safety regulations and best practices. We provide ongoing training and require the consistent use of appropriate PPE.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach truck) safely and efficiently to move, stack, and retrieve inventory.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers with accuracy and care.
- Transport materials to and from production, storage, and shipping areas.
- Conduct daily pre-operation checks on forklifts and report any maintenance needs.
- Follow all warehouse Safety procedures and regulations, including proper material handling techniques.
- Utilize required PPE at all times when operating equipment or in designated areas.
- Assist with inventory management, including putting away stock and cycle counting.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure Safety and productivity.
- Support other warehouse operations as needed, including picking and packing.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the logistics and supply chain operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification or previous proven experience.
- At least 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse environment.
- Knowledge of warehouse Safety procedures and regulations.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring occasional Lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of logistics and inventory control principles.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively.
