We have an exciting opening for a Forklift Operator at our Washington, D.C. facility! This position is essential for our material handling operations, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods throughout the warehouse. As a Forklift Operator, you will be entrusted with operating powered industrial trucks to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Safety is paramount in this role, and adherence to all regulations is required.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate various types of forklifts to transport materials.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers with accuracy and speed.
- Stack and retrieve inventory from high shelving units.
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on forklifts to ensure operational readiness.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, free from obstructions.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including mandatory PPE usage.
- Assist in inventory management tasks, such as cycle counting.
- Understand and execute tasks within the broader logistics framework of the facility.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions immediately.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating forklifts is required; certification is a plus.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in material handling.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Must be committed to following all safety rules and using appropriate PPE.
- Knowledge of warehouse logistics and inventory systems is beneficial.
