Are you a proactive and reliable individual seeking a challenging role in material handling? Our Richmond, Virginia facility is looking for a dedicated Material Handler to support our warehouse operations. This position is essential to the smooth flow of goods, ensuring that materials are moved, organized, and prepared for further processing or shipment. You will be responsible for operating various types of equipment to transport materials safely and efficiently throughout the warehouse. A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment are key. This role offers a great entry point into the logistics industry with opportunities for skill development.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks and forklifts (certification may be required).
- Transport raw materials, finished goods, and other items throughout the warehouse.
- Organize and store materials in designated areas, ensuring proper inventory control.
- Perform regular inspections of equipment to ensure it is in good working order, reporting any issues promptly.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and using appropriate PPE.
- Ability to handle significant lifting of materials, often exceeding 50 lbs, is necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Proficiency in operating forklifts and other material handling equipment is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent physical condition with the ability to perform manual labor, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing/walking.
- Familiarity with logistics and inventory management systems is a plus.
- Commitment to wearing required PPE at all times.
