We are seeking a detail-oriented Receiving Clerk to join our logistics team in Richmond, Virginia. This role is essential for accurately documenting and processing incoming inventory, ensuring that our stock levels are correct and that goods are ready for distribution. The ideal candidate possesses excellent organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy and efficiency. Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming shipments from various carriers.
- Verify quantities and quality of received goods against purchase orders and shipping documents.
- Inspect incoming items for damage or defects and report any issues.
- Accurately record received inventory into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Tag and label incoming items as required.
- Organize and stage received goods for put-away or further processing.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized receiving area, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and dollies safely.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, particularly those related to safety and lifting.
- Wear and correctly use required PPE, including safety shoes and gloves.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, internal departments, and logistics teams regarding receiving status.
- Assist with inventory reconciliation and cycle counts as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a receiving, warehouse, or logistics role is preferred.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and data entry.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform tasks involving frequent lifting of up to 40 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Understanding of warehouse safety procedures and the proper use of PPE.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
This position is located in a busy warehouse environment and requires physical activity. Employees are required to wear appropriate PPE, including safety footwear. The job involves regular tasks related to receiving, including lifting and moving goods.
