Are you looking for a physically engaging role in the logistics sector? Our Washington, D.C. facility is seeking a reliable Material Handler to manage the movement of goods within our warehouse. This position is key to ensuring that materials are efficiently transferred from receiving to storage, and from storage to the production or shipping areas. You will be responsible for operating various types of material handling equipment, loading and unloading trucks, and organizing inventory. Safety is our top priority, and all team members are expected to strictly follow safety procedures and utilize appropriate PPE. This role involves significant physical activity, including substantial lifting and carrying of materials. We are committed to fostering a safe and productive work environment for all our employees. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas within the warehouse.
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation.
- Ensure materials are properly stacked and secured.
- Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the warehouse.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform routine checks on material handling equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.
Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role is required. A valid forklift certification is a significant advantage. Proven ability to operate material handling equipment safely. Must be physically fit and capable of frequent and heavy lifting. Strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing priorities. Commitment to wearing appropriate PPE at all times.
