We are looking for a reliable Material Handler to join our busy logistics facility in Chicago, Illinois. This role is crucial for maintaining the flow of materials within the warehouse, ensuring that raw materials, components, and finished goods are moved efficiently and safely to their designated areas. The Material Handler will be responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, assisting with inventory management, and ensuring a clean and orderly workspace. A strong commitment to workplace Safety and adherence to all procedures is paramount. We supply all necessary PPE . This position involves frequent Lifting and requires the physical capacity to handle materials effectively in a demanding environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Move materials from receiving to production areas, or to storage locations.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper placement and security of goods.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stock rotation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring easy access to materials.
- Inspect equipment before use and report any maintenance needs.
- Follow all company Safety guidelines and procedures, including proper use of PPE .
- Collaborate with production and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall warehouse operations.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Certification and experience operating forklifts and other powered industrial trucks.
- Ability to understand and follow complex instructions.
- Capacity for consistent Lifting and moving of heavy items, up to 70 lbs.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse Safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Good physical condition, with the ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
