What You’ll Be Doing

As an Apprentice Refrigeration Engineer, you’ll dive deep into the world of HVAC systems, acquiring the skills needed to become a fully qualified Service Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while receiving mentorship from experienced professionals. Your primary goal is to build a solid understanding of the refrigeration and air conditioning industry, preparing you for a successful career.

  • Regularly attend South Eastern Regional College (SERC) - Lisburn Campus for Level 3 Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.
  • Work on water chillers and commercial/industrial heat pumps.
  • Participate in customer site visits, shadowing qualified technicians.
  • Learn about refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Work on fans and air handling equipment.
  • Install full HVAC solutions, including temporary hoses, cables, and ancillaries.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and supporting technically challenging breakdowns, both in person and remotely.
  • Work on electrical power supplies and control panels.
  • Gain experience with pumps, water hydraulics, and hydronics.
  • Learn about digital control systems and basic Building Management Systems (BMS).
What We Are Looking For
  • Grade C/4 or above in GCSE English, Science, Maths, and ICT or Engineering.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • A keen learner who is eager to ask questions and get involved.
  • Good written English skills.
  • An interest in engineering, heating systems, and low-carbon technologies like heat pumps.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, confidence, and excellent communication abilities.
  • Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
