Working at Charité
As part of the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center “Foundations of Circadian Medicine”, we offer an exciting opportunity for a PhD position (f/m/d) within an interdisciplinary research project. The CRC aims to investigate fundamental principles and molecular mechanisms that link circadian rhythms to health and disease across various organs and clinical contexts. This research forms the basis for developing novel diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic strategies for use in circadian medicine. An overview of all CRC projects and detailed descriptions can be found on our career page.
- You will be employed as a scientific research associate (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeitender)
- Depending on the project, your PhD research may involve topics such as:
- Development of digital tools to promote circadian health in daily life
- Analysis of molecular mechanisms underlying circadian disruption in infection, intensive care, or metabolic diseases
- Application of advanced techniques such as single-cell analysis, mass spectrometry, actigraphy, or bioinformatics to study biological rhythms
- Investigation of circadian rhythms in different populations – from adolescents during puberty to critically ill patients
- Interdisciplinary development of personalized chronomedicine interventions
- You are engaged in research: According to §110 (4), sentence 3, BerlHG provides for scientific employees to spend a reasonable time for higher scientific qualification during working hours
- Excellent Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, medicine, public health, statistics, bioinformatics)
- Strong interest in circadian biology, molecular medical research, or digital health
- Depending on the project, experience in one or more of the following areas is beneficial: cell culture, animal models, molecular analysis, sensor technology, or data analysis (e.g., R, Python, mass spectrometry, bioinformatics)
- Very good command of English (German language skills may be required depending on the project)
- A collaborative mindset, independent working style, and genuine scientific curiosity
- Independent scientific work with the opportunity to pursue a doctorate
- Integration into a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment at one of Europe's leading university hospitals
- Access to cutting-edge technologies and clinical cohorts
