Campus Charité Mitte, Campus Virchow-Klinikum, Wedding

Work time full-time | Occupation group Research | Employment period limited

Working at Charité

As part of the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center “Foundations of Circadian Medicine”, we are seeking a postdoctoral researcher for an interdisciplinary research initiative at the interface of chronobiology, systems biology, and clinical translation. The project aims to uncover fundamental mechanisms linking circadian rhythms with pathologies across different organ systems, in order to develop innovative strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in circadian medicine.

A full list of projects within the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) as well as detailed project descriptions can be found here.

You will be employed as a postdoctoral research associate (wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiterin).

  • Depending on your scientific background and interests, this position offers the opportunity to contribute to one of the following core areas:
  • Experimental investigation of circadian immune mechanisms in neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease, using advanced molecular techniques in both mouse models and human samples
  • Development and optimization of bioinformatics tools for the identification and application of circadian biomarkers, including the design of sustainable analysis pipelines and training of CRC partners in omics data analysis
  • Integration and platform development for circadian omics data, such as the further development of an interactive database and the curation of large-scale single-cell and bulk omics datasets
  • You will work within a highly collaborative research consortium, with access to excellent infrastructure at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and in close cooperation with partner groups at the University of Lübeck.

  • A completed doctoral degree in bioinformatics, biology, medicine, biochemistry, systems biology, or a related discipline
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: omics data analysis, molecular biology techniques, animal models, data integration, or platform development (see career page for details)
  • Solid programming skills in a relevant language (e.g., R, Python) are advantageous
  • Prior knowledge in circadian biology or a strong interest in chronomedicine is desirable
  • Excellent English language skills and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary teamwork

  • Independent scientific work with the opportunity for further academic qualification in accordance with §110 BerlHG
  • Access to cutting-edge technologies, clinical samples, and datasets
  • Close supervision and collaboration within experienced research teams
  • Participation in an interdisciplinary, multi-site Collaborative Research Center
  • Room for methodological innovation, scientific freedom, and collegial exchange

Information regarding the position

  • Paygrade E13 according to TVöD VKA-K. Your job grade depends on your job qualification whereas the experience level depends on the number of working years. The yearly gross salary is hereby provided based on a full time position excluding yearly bonus and additional pay.
