The primary role of a Border Patrol Agent is to protect the nation's borders from illegal activities. This involves detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.

A Border Patrol Agent must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal. They must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, think critically under pressure, remain calm when dealing with high-stress situations , maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information . Additionally they should have knowledge about federal regulations related inspections checking cargo vessels watercraft ATVs snowmobiles motorcycles etc.
