Border Security Professional

This is a career ladder position with five levels: GL-5/7 (entry-level), GS-9 (senior agent) and GS-11/GS-12 (supervisory positions). Agents will be responsible for detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration laws. They must have strong observational skills, excellent communication skills to effectively interact with diverse groups including foreign nationals and law enforcement officers.

Requirements include being able to work varied shifts in remote or isolated areas as well as responding to emergency situations that may require working at heights or in confined spaces. The agents are also expected to participate in training exercises, which may involve firearms use, defensive tactics, first aid/CPR/AED certified.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university;
