Description: MEDICAL ASSISTING INSTRUCTOR JOB SUMMARY The Medical Assisting Instructor provides enthusiastic and engaging instruction in the field of Medical Assisting to develop individuals’ skills and competencies by delivering the prescribed curriculum enabling the graduate to be employed as an entry-level Medical Assistant with Comprehensive Community Health Centers. Our Medical Assistant Instructor employs the latest principles of adult learning to deliver classroom instruction using advanced technology and multimedia to provide training to the non-profit FQHC healthcare workforce. Our candidate is responsible for delivering in-person classroom instruction for our Medical Assisting course; to include lectures, hands on clinical lab skills, assessments and examinations. This position will provide a fully prepared curriculum that meets desired learning outcomes, academic advising and career related counseling to students, actively engage in retention activities, and provide support for program and institutional initiatives. MEDICAL ASSISTING INSTRUCTOR ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide extensive orientation of incoming students on goals and requirements of the courses, the occupation, and the requirements of the industry. Lecture students daily in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical specialties, techniques and procedures, and computer software applications. Prepare curriculum provided by the Program Director assisting with revisions in materials updating program syllabi, lecture, lab exercises/tests, and updates in instructional materials. Post and submit student grades in a timely manner Provide group/individual student advising in regular intervals and on an as needed basis in academic issues and behavioral issues. Participates in program and student outcomes assessment. Utilizes technology and equipment as appropriate Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students. Monitor and evaluate the student's work against stated learning outcomes, and work with the students so that a full achievement level is attained. Determine and record academic progress being attained for each student. Evaluate all assignments and tests, using scores and comments, as quickly as possible. Comments to the students should be phrased in a positive, constructive manner, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement. Consistently evaluate student performance and turn in grade reports to Program Director as directed. Actively work to maintain retention in all classes taught, by maintaining accurate attendance records daily, calling all students who are absent, and recording absentee information in roster after each week and communicating professionalism, attendance, and academic concerns can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems • Performs other related duties as assigned. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, photocopy machine, telephone, and other office equipment is also required.
