Position Summary

The Labourer is responsible for the handling, consolidating, and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received by the processing facilities in an effort to recycle their key components. These items could include but are not limited to used oils, and industrial wastewater. The successful candidate will also be operating equipment such as forklifts, skid steers and loaders. A strong emphasis on safety and efficiency is essential, as the role involves performing moderately labor-intensive and repetitive tasks in a warehouse environment, often as part of a team.

This is a full-time hourly position with shift work scheduling. The regular work schedule is 12-hour shifts, on a 4 on 4 off schedule, rotating between 6am-6pm and 12pm-12am every two weeks. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure waste is processed in a timely and safe manner.

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks and containers.

  • Ensure incoming waste conforms with acceptance protocols.

  • Operation of processing machinery and equipment as required. 

  • Ensure safe operation and procedures are followed at all times. 

  • Complete paperwork correctly & ensure it is complete.

  • Complete job hazard risk assessments.

  • Promote and adopt a safety culture with all employees.

  • Provide superior internal and external customer service.

  • General shop clean up and maintenance.

  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks.

  • Physically fit with the ability to lift +50lbs and stand on cement for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to complete meticulous paperwork forms.

  • Planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to analyze, identify and solve problems. 

  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
