This position works remotely in Canada for our Core Lab division. We're empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott's diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.
What You'll Do
The Informatics Technical Specialist is responsible for driving Informatics and Automation implementations for Abbott Diagnostics Laboratory Solutions. Hands-on resource to deliver installation, configuration, integration, training and troubleshooting services for AlinIQ products. performing pre-implementation activities including support of the sales process, pre-installation meetings, and technical demonstrations. Meetings with customers to discuss and establish readiness for Laboratory Information System (LIS) interface communication, network security and connectivity agreement, and establishment of customer specific workflow decisions that will determine system configuration activities (i.e., test setup, auto-verification, etc.) allowing for the successful integration of Abbott products. Performing implementation activities including system hardware and software installation, network setup, application configuration, establishing connectivity for instruments, the LIS and Laboratory Automation System (LAS). Performing verification and acceptance testing, training of lab personnel, training and mentoring of local TSSs and CSEs. Reviewing learning materials/tools and troubleshooting guides, helping to establish standardized operating procedures, and other related functions associated with middleware and automation.
Performing post-implementation support activities (on-site and remote) including answering questions, troubleshooting, and solving problems, following the Abbott Diagnostics escalation process to involve second and third level support when appropriate, performing post-installation configuration and validation activities, attending meetings/conference calls, providing and facilitating training.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in computer science, information systems medical or hospital informatics or related disciplines.
Two plus years of relevant experience installing, configuring and/or maintaining diagnostics laboratory information applications.
Sound understanding of diagnostics laboratory workflows and related technologies.
Demonstrated understanding of one or more products such as laboratory information systems, middleware and/or analyzer management systems, or inventory management systems used in diagnostics laboratories.
Hands on experience implementing, configuring, training and supporting one or more laboratory information systems mentioned above is highly desirable.
Able to execute assigned tasks satisfactorily with high degree of commitment, quality, independently.
Technical proficiency with general business applications such as MS Office, MS Project/ SmartSheet.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent customer facing capabilities.
Attention to details and a concern for quality.
Able to motivate and willing to bring ideas forward, escalate issues and risks in a positive way.
Become a trusted advisor to customers.
Identify customer needs propose solutions and resolve problems.
Provide feature/product enhancement input based on customer feedback.
Maintain and assume accountability for a culture of high customer service.
Execute project work plans with a focus on timeline complete and risk mitigation.
Track and report on assigned projects aspects on a regular basis
Configure and integrate products to customer specifications, deliver training.
Provide customer support assistance as needed.
Review and keep up to date all project documents and systems of record.
Participate in team and customer meetings effectively.
Be available for potential shift work and travel to client sites up to 50% of the time.
