About the Position
The IT Technician is responsible for providing technical support and responding to user service requests related to the installation, operation, and maintenance of IT equipment. The role ensures the security, stability, and performance of network and workstation environments, supports the deployment of new technologies, and promotes adherence to company IT policies, procedures, and standards. The incumbent will also stay current with evolving hardware and software technologies and support broader IT team initiatives as required.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain a stable, efficient, and secure IT environment to ensure high system availability while complying with corporate IT policies, standards, and best practices.
Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment including computers, laptops, printers, monitors, and peripherals. Set up and deploy new workstations and required software in accordance with company standards.
Provide Level 1 technical support and troubleshooting services to end users; log, prioritize, and resolve incidents through the ticketing system, ensuring proper follow-up and closure of requests.
Participate in an on-call rotation to provide technical support when required.
Monitor and manage daily system backups and ensure proper handling and storage of backup media.
Perform preventive maintenance on IT equipment, coordinate warranty claims, and arrange repair or replacement of faulty hardware.
Manage procurement requests for IT hardware and components (PCs, network devices, storage equipment, etc.).
Maintain accurate inventories of IT assets, including computers, laptops, printers, and software licenses to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
Support network and infrastructure operations when senior analysts are unavailable and assist with basic infrastructure-related tasks.
Contribute to IT projects by testing new technologies, participating in pilot deployments, and supporting large-scale rollouts.
Continuously improve IT service quality while supporting organizational and operational objectives.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and assist users in maximizing productivity through effective use of IT tools and systems.
Collaborate with IT team members to ensure uninterrupted system operations and provide cross-functional support when required.
Customer Service Responsibilities
Plan and prioritize user requests based on urgency and business impact.
Assess and understand user needs to provide effective solutions.
Meet established service response and resolution timelines.
Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and strong customer service skills in all interactions.
Ensure consistent follow-up and communication with users throughout issue resolution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience as an IT Technician, Systems Analyst, or Service Desk /Support Analyst.
Experience working within a multinational or large corporate environment is required.
Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of operating systems, system configuration, communication protocols, hardware, and enterprise IT environments.
Proven ability to manage client relationships across multiple organizational levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical and innovative solutions.
Ability to interpret and communicate both technical and business requirements effectively.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Self-motivated, results-oriented, customer-focused, and able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
