University Plumbing and Heating-operating under Ozz Electric is looking for a General Manager
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the General Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the daily business activities of the Mechanical and Plumbing division. Improving overall business functions, developing strategic plans, and communicating and delivering business goals.
Role And Responsibilities
Oversee operational activities for the business unit.
Lead the development of the business units strategic plan and management of the operations team to meet the P&L objectives and the organization's long-term strategy.
Analyze the existing operational organization, structure, processes and performance; and identify opportunities and implement solutions for improvement.
Build and maintain relationships with other department heads, external partners, clients and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activities and strategic goals.
Set goals and KPIs for all aspects of the business unit, such as on-time delivery, productivity, and quality to meet organizational objectives.
Lead the business units' operations team towards maximizing customer satisfaction while maintaining operational efficiency and managing costs through strategic planning, process improvement and inter-departmental collaboration.
Work with HR and the operations team to develop a long-term retention strategy for the business unit and champion an environment of continuous improvement and success.
Propose and implement revisions to procedures and create new standard operating procedures as necessary, develop new workflow processes and audits.
Drive quality, continuous improvement and employee involvement through team-based problem solving and best practices.
Establish project management principles and guidelines within the department and establish a consistent delivery method.
Skills And Qualifications
Minimum 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience in a similar role.
Experience in the mechanical and plumbing industry is highly preferred.
Proven track record of successfully planning and executing projects on schedule and within budget.
In-depth understanding of construction procedures and project management principles.
Experience in contract administration.
Skills And Key Competencies
Proven experience and ability in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, estimating and cost control.
Must possess adaptability and creativity to effectively address changing business and environmental conditions to continue to drive success and achieve objectives.
Superior knowledge of operations functions and principles and proven ability to plan and manage operational processes.
Experience developing strategic plans with departmental budget responsibility.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, demonstrated by previous professional success.
Performance oriented with ability to communicate effectively.
Strong ethical leadership abilities with proven people management and team development skills.
Natural leader and team builder who can build strong relationships quickly.
Proven problem solver with sound judgement who accepts ownership and accountability.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
Detail oriented and customer focused.
Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control and administration, including Microsoft Office applications.
Education
Undergraduate degree in construction management or related degree or comparable work experience.
