Job Summary

The Cook Chill Food Production Center is located on the grounds of the Maplehurst Correctional Facility; however, Cook Chill operates as an independent production facility and is separate from Maplehurst Corrections. There are no inmates on site at any time. Civeo Premium associates do not have any interaction with, nor access to, inmates.

We are seeking a Meal Assembly Supervisor is responsible for leading the day‑to‑day operations of the Meal Assembly Room within a food production environment. This role ensures that meal trays and bulk food are assembled accurately, safely, and efficiently in accordance with menu specifications, dietary requirements, food safety standards, and Ministry regulations.

Reporting to the Meal Assembly Manager, the Supervisor provides direct leadership to front‑line associates, monitors productivity and staffing levels, and works closely with Production teams to ensure sufficient product availability. The role plays a key part in maintaining food quality, operational efficiency, and a safe, organized workplace in a fast‑paced, temperature‑controlled environment.

This position is ideal for a hands‑on leader with strong food safety knowledge, supervisory experience, and a commitment to quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily meal tray assembly and bulk food operations

  • Ensure meals are assembled accurately and safely in accordance with menu, diet, food safety, and Ministry requirements

  • Monitor productivity, staffing levels, and workflow to meet meal‑day targets and cost objectives

  • Collaborate closely with Production teams to ensure adequate product availability for traying

  • Lead, coach, and support front‑line Meal Assembly associates; ensure staff are trained and competent

  • Provide ongoing performance feedback, conduct evaluations, and address attendance and performance issues

  • Conduct daily team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and performance results

  • Enforce HACCP, food safety, and Civeo Quality Assurance standards, including audits and corrective actions

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements, including OHSA, WHMIS, and PPE usage

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment; report and participate in incident investigations

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Ministry procedures and protocols

  • Participate in training, meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Perform physical duties as required, including working in cold environments, prolonged standing, and lifting up to 25 lbs

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs

Qualifications 

  • Food and Nutrition Services Diploma from an approved Community College or equivalent education and experience 

  • Previous supervisory experience in food service, healthcare, institutional, or production environments 

  • Prior experience in meal assembly or food production considered an asset 

  • Advanced Food Safety Training (FST) certification required 

  • Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, and quality assurance practices 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop front‑line staff 

  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred 

  • Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills 

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills 

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a management team across shifts 

  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a fast‑paced production environment 

  • Positive, professional attitude with a strong customer‑service focus 

  • Successful completion of a vulnerable sector check, criminal record check, and any other required security clearances

  • Salary Range $49,000.00 to $53,000.00 annually
