Your opportunity:
The Office of the Vice Dean, Research & Health Science Education oversees all researchundertaken for the Temerty Faculty of Medicine and coordinates with its counterparts at the affiliated hospital research institutes for clinical research. This includes grant proposal development, administering internal funding allocations, collecting and reporting on research productivity metrics, and managing core research facilities.
As the Strategic Communications & Data Officer with Temerty Commercialization & Partnerships, you will support the delivery of strategic communications, marketing, outreach, and stakeholder engagement activities that advance program and partnership objectives. You will implement communication and outreach plans, produce and edit high-quality collateral across multiple platforms, and support the planning, promotion, and evaluation of events and programming. The role also includes administrative and client-facing support, along with records and data management responsibilities such as maintaining databases, generating reports and presentations, and conducting analysis (including program evaluation tools such as surveys and interviews) to inform decision-making and continuous improvement. Your exceptional communication skills and creativity will enable you to share compelling content to optimize the Temerty Commercialization & Partnerships
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing communication plans that support outreach goals and objectives, including implementing community relations outreach plans for target audiences
- Drafting internal and external communications, including briefing notes/materials, news items, and feature stories
- Developing and implementing marketing and advertising plans to increase revenue-generating activities
- Advise clients on branding, marketing, and advertising strategies for multimedia channels, including advising on strategies to maximize social media presence and growth
- Producing, advising on, editing, and disseminating promotional and outreach materials (i.e., brochures, newsletters, websites) while ensuring alignment to university brand identity and style guidelines
- Conceptualizing, organizing, and executing event activities including establishing event logistics and conducting post-event evaluation and analysis
- Researching potential prospects and target markets for outreach collaborations, and fostering networks for collaboration opportunities
- Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Generating strategic reports through metric tracking and data consolidation
- Providing administrative support and serving as a first point of contact for general enquiries and coordinating related communications
- Maintaining and updating database records, ensuring accuracy and supporting data tracking and reporting activities
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience in communications in a university, hospital, or comparable complex multi-stakeholder environment
- Demonstrated experience implementing communication strategies and plans for commercialization and partnership initiatives in health innovation
- Experience implementing marketing/advertising plans
- Demonstrated ability to create concise, effective written content, drawing from interviews with sources as well as translation of clinical and scientific materials for lay audiences
- Experience drafting internal and external communications including briefing materials or news content
- Experience producing promotional and outreach materials for a highly-visible and complex organization
- Demonstrated experience with various social media platforms including but not limited to LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter/X, Facebook, and TikTok
- Demonstrated experience maintaining database records and analyzing data to generate reports and identify trends
- Experience conceptualizing, organizing, and executing events including conducting post-event evaluation and analyses

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band $76,577. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $97,928. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
