Position: Financial Analyst – EAF-Expense Management
Employment Type: Contract (18 months)
Compensation Details:
· HR title and level 15: Salaries typically range from $65,172 to $86,898 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
· HR title and level 16: Salaries typically range from $74,297 to $99,063 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
· HR title and level 17: Salaries typically range from $84,698 to $112,931 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
· Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
· This role can be performed from EDC's headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, or Laval.

Team Overview:
The Expense Management team, part of the Enterprise Analytics and Forecasting group, provides financial planning of administrative expenses, complex analysis, IFRS reporting and business insights to support budgeting decisions across EDC. We are seeking a contractor for an 18 month term to backfill a maternity leave and help us continue delivering high quality financial support to our internal partners.
As our newest team member, you will apply strong accounting expertise and a big-picture understanding of business performance to deliver timely, value-added insights. This role offers the opportunity to lead initiatives, work across multiple systems, improve reporting processes, and help communicate the story behind the numbers.
Our team prides itself on being collaborative, supportive, and highly engaged. You'll work closely with groups across the organization while developing deep skills in financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
What you will be doing:
· Key Provide complex financial analysis and modeling to support planning, forecasting, and decision-making
· Act as finance advisor to business and functional leaders; run cost reviews and budget health checks. Present complex financial analysis clearly and concisely
· Prepare financial accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements in alignment with IFRS.
· Support accounting and financial system changes and drive continuous improvement
· Develop, enhance, and maintain management dashboards and reporting that drive insights into financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic priorities.
· Deliver strategic, forward-looking financial information accurately and on time.
· Monitor financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
· Conduct variance analysis comparing actuals to budget, with thoughtful interpretation and recommendations.
· Design and refine processes to improve operational efficiency and reporting quality.
· Support Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) for quarterly and annual financial reports.
· Analyze results from business lines with a critical lens to meet reporting requirements and challenge assumptions where needed.
· Engage effectively with internal partners through clear communication, presentations, and ongoing support. responsibilities
What we are looking for:
· Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline
· Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent), Finance Designation (CFA or equivalent), or equivalent professional experience
· Experience in accounting, financial analysis or business analysis. (Level 15 Minimum 2 years of experience, Level 16 2 to 5 years of experience and Level 17 minimum 5 years of experience)
· Proficiency in Power BI and Power Query
· Experience using financial systems and Enterprise Performance Monitoring (EPM) tools
· Strong understanding of IFRS and accounting principles
· Advanced MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
· Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
· Experience with queries, report writing and data visualization
· Excellent communication and presentation skills
What will make you stand out:
· Experience with Peoplesoft Financials and forecasting tools such as TM1
· Experience working with decentralized budgets
· Bilingual in both official languages (English and French)
