RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow all Home policies and procedures, including safety, infection prevention and control (IPAC), privacy, confidentiality, and quality standards.
Use safe work practices, wear required PPE, and report hazards, incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions promptly.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
Communicate respectfully and professionally with residents, families, visitors, staff, and volunteers.
Support resident comfort and safety under the direction of nursing staff and in collaboration with PSWs.
Assist with assigned resident support tasks such as mobility/transfers, room setup, meal service/feeding assistance, and transport to dining/programs/visits.
Help maintain a clean resident environment (e.g., beds, bedside areas, linen handling, resident belongings, and general unit support tasks).
Assist with nutrition service, life enrichment/programs, housekeeping, or environmental tasks based on departmental assignment and operational needs.
Report resident care concerns, unit needs, equipment issues, and maintenance/cleaning concerns to the supervisor.
Attend required training, in-services, and staff meetings, and complete other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Charge Nurse/Executive Director.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - High School Diploma (or equivalent) required; Home Care Certificate or related healthcare support training is an asset.
- Previous experience with a geriatric population, in long-term care, or in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, resident-centred approach.
- Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and other shifts as required.
- Must meet pre-employment requirements, including Vulnerable Sector Screening, required immunizations/TB testing, and legal eligibility to work in Canada (CPR/First Aid and GPA are assets).
