The Project Manager – GHG & Priority Projects is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned sustainability and asset renewal initiatives within the Accelerator Program. This role oversees delivery of greenhouse gas reduction projects such as clean heat, photovoltaic solar, EV charging infrastructure, and related decarbonization works, as well as select Priority Projects involving critical infrastructure renewal across terminals and airside environments.
Working within a live operational airport environment, the Project Manager ensures safe, compliant, on-time, and on-budget execution while aligning with GTAA requirements, PACT governance processes, and Target Price objectives. The role requires strong coordination across design, commercial, construction, and stakeholder teams to deliver technically complex, operationally sensitive projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead end-to-end project delivery for assigned GHG and Priority Projects from development phase through construction and closeout.
- Manage scope, schedule, cost, and risk in alignment with the Progressive Design-Build Agreement and Target Price development.
- Coordinate with design consultants, construction teams, utilities, and operations to ensure integration of low-carbon technologies and infrastructure upgrades.
- Oversee implementation of projects including, but not limited to:
- Clean heat and central plant upgrades (air source heat pumps and distribution systems)
- Photovoltaic (PV) solar installations
- Electric vehicle and eGSE charging infrastructure
- HVAC system replacements and refrigerant upgrades
- Airside and terminal infrastructure renewal projects
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, airport operational constraints, and federal/provincial climate-related requirements.
- Lead procurement coordination, contractor oversight, and consultant management.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, cost forecasts, and risk registers.
- Support development and reporting of GHG reduction metrics and sustainability performance indicators.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement with GTAA, airlines, utilities, regulatory bodies, and internal working groups.
- Participate in PACT governance forums, including Sub-Program meetings, Management Team reviews, and escalation processes as required.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, quality requirements, and operational continuity within a live airfield and terminal environment.
WORK CONDITIONS
The position will be based at our offices in Mississauga, Ontario, with regular visits to the site offices as required. This position is 5 days per week with core hours of work between approximately 8:00am–5:00pm with 1 hour Lunch or as agreed upon with your manager.
All employees must complete a RAIC and Criminal background check.
DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES
- 8–12+ years of project management experience on major infrastructure, airport, utilities, energy, or industrial projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering sustainability, mechanical, electrical, or infrastructure renewal projects.
- Strong understanding of GHG reduction initiatives including clean energy systems, PV solar, EV infrastructure, or decarbonization strategies.
- Experience working within regulated or live operational environments (aviation experience is an asset).
- Knowledge of progressive design-build or similar collaborative delivery models.
- Strong commercial acumen including cost forecasting, change management, and risk mitigation.
- Familiarity with lifecycle analysis, emissions reporting, or sustainability standards (LEED, Envision, ISO is an asset.
- Proven leadership capability in multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- PMP or equivalent certification is considered an asset.
