We are seeking a skilled and reliable Forklift Operator to join our dynamic logistics team in Washington, D.C. In this role, you will be responsible for operating forklifts to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods within our warehouse facility. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will be working closely with warehouse associates and supervisors to maintain inventory accuracy and facilitate smooth operational flow.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate various types of forklifts to load, unload, transport, and stack materials.
- Perform daily inspections of forklift equipment to ensure proper working condition and report any defects immediately.
- Accurately pick and stage orders according to picking lists and shipping schedules.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring aisles and pathways are clear.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding work progress and any issues encountered.
- Support other warehouse operations as needed, demonstrating a willingness to assist across different functions.
- Handle materials with care to prevent damage and ensure product integrity.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in logistics and material handling.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification or license.
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or industrial setting.
- Ability to perform heavy Lifting of up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and the importance of PPE.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
