We are seeking a certified and experienced Forklift Operator to join our distribution center in Baltimore, Maryland. This role is crucial for the efficient and safe movement of goods within our warehouse. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for operating various types of forklifts to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Your primary duties will involve loading and unloading materials from trucks, trailers, and containers, and transporting them to and from storage areas or shipping docks. Precision, speed, and an unwavering commitment to safety are essential for success in this position. You will play a key part in our logistics operations, ensuring that materials are handled correctly and efficiently. We expect all operators to maintain their equipment in excellent condition and report any maintenance issues immediately. A thorough understanding of warehouse layouts and safety procedures, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is mandatory. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload goods from vehicles and transport them within the warehouse.
- Move products from receiving areas to storage locations and to shipping docks.
- Stack and arrange merchandise accurately in designated areas.
- Conduct daily inspections of forklift equipment and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensuring unobstructed pathways.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including cycle counting.
- Follow all logistics schedules and shipping requirements.
- Practice safe lifting techniques when handling palletized loads and securing them for transport.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator license and a proven track record of safe operation.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and material handling techniques.
- In-depth understanding of safety regulations, PPE, and forklift best practices.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial reasoning skills.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced logistics environment.
- Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality.
- Effective communication abilities.
