We are looking for a dedicated Material Handler to join our logistics team in Des Moines, Iowa. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe movement of materials throughout our warehouse facility. Your primary focus will be on managing inventory flow, ensuring that materials are accurately transferred, stored, and staged for outbound shipments. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and operational efficiency within our logistics network.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move goods.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers with incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas within the warehouse, ensuring accuracy.
- Perform regular inspections and basic maintenance checks on material handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, free from hazards.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, put-away, and cycle counts.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Identify and report any damaged materials or equipment malfunctions.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve operational goals and optimize logistics flow.
- Follow all documentation procedures for material movement and tracking.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Ability to operate various types of material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety practices and procedures.
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced logistics environment, both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be willing to wear and properly use all required PPE.
- Basic knowledge of inventory control systems is a plus.
