AGADA Overview
AGADA is a contract research organization (CRO) providing specialized services to pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Unlike most CROs, AGADA provides services in niche areas of research that require further standardization. Our mission is to facilitate and accelerate drug development for rare diseases, serving an internation clientele. Key to accomplishing this mission is training and retaining a highly skilled workforce in Nova Scotia. We offer both preclinical drug efficacy studies and clinical (human) trial drug development support services. AGADA has performed over 100 drug efficacy studies in murine models of muscular dystrophy and has supported >50 Phase I/II clinical efficacy studies (Duchenne, Becker, ALS, DM1).
Project Coordinator (Molecular Biology)
Primary roles and responsibilities
Project Management & Development
Drafts assay and study timelines that adhere to milestones set forth in service contracts, and monitors timeline progress to help ensure targets are achieved.
Initiates projects and schedules resources for preclinical, clinical, and internal studies using AGADA's project management software.
Assists to schedule team-based assignments.
Proposes ideas and solutions to help remedy project delays.
Conducts day-to-day follow up with study leads and experimenters to track and assess study progress.
Updates scheduling and timelines for preclinical and clinical studies as required.
Drafts study outlines, detailed study protocols, experimental timelines, and report templates for preclinical, clinical, and internal services.
Works collaboratively with the researchers, project management, and research management to help ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities.
Contract Preparation
Prepares project budgets for preclinical, clinical, and internal studies.
Maintains existing quoting templates and works in collaboration with research management and project management to develop quoting templates for new/prospective assays.
Drafts work order contracts and change order amendments for preclinical and clinical services.
Client Relations & Internal Communication
Communicates study updates with clients.
Attends introductory meetings and/or study update meetings with clients.
Participates in and assists in leading weekly or bi-weekly study meetings.
Resource & Business Development
Aids with SR&ED research study submissions.
Participates in resource planning.
Participates in contract update and planning meetings.
Secondary roles and responsibilities
Performs additional research and company-related responsibilities as assigned by Project Management or other members of AGADA leadership.
Participates in Internal Committees.
Participates in sample receipt.
Engages in inventory management.
Drafts Standard Operating Procedures as required.
Position Requirements
The minimum education requirement for a Project Coordinator position is a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) from a Canadian recognised university. The candidate should have experience in Excel and following standard operating procedures.
Bona fide occupational requirement
AGADA requires employees to have and maintain 20/20 vision or better during employment, which can be met through the use of eyeglasses or contact lenses.
