About the Role

As an Intermediate Business Analyst, you will support the delivery of business and technology initiatives that enable Kent & Essex Mutual's strategic goals and operational effectiveness. Working closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors, you will contribute analytical expertise, support solution design, and help ensure initiatives are delivered efficiently and in alignment with business needs.

In this role, you will act as a key connector between operational subject matter experts and technical teams, supporting requirements gathering, solution validation, and project coordination. You will be involved across multiple initiatives, building strong working relationships and helping maintain progress from planning through implementation.

Work location for this position can be in-office or hybrid (2-3 days in office).  Work is required to be completed within the Province of Ontario.

Key Responsibilities 

Business Analysis & Collaboration

  • Support strategic planning and day-to-day operational initiatives across the organization.

  • Serve as a key business liaison between operational teams, IT partners, and external vendors.

  • Contribute to business-led initiatives that leverage technology solutions, including Guidewire platforms.

  • Assess and communicate business impacts associated with system changes, enhancements, and process updates.

  • Facilitate issue identification, tracking, and resolution by coordinating discussions between business stakeholders and technical teams.

  • Participate in vendor meetings to support requirements clarification, solution understanding, and delivery alignment.

  • Track and escalate issues, risks, and priorities with vendors as required.

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of insurance operations, workflows, and system interdependencies.

  • Identify process inefficiencies, gaps, and opportunities for improvement across business and technology environments.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of standardized processes and best practices.

  • Support change management activities, including impact assessments, communications, and training support.

  • Ensure solutions align with organizational policies, regulatory obligations, and data governance standards.

Testing Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and coordinate testing.

  • Define testing strategy, scope, timelines, and quality standards.

  • Partner with project managers, business teams, IT, and vendors to ensure test readiness.

  • Oversee system, integration, regression, and UAT activities.

  • Ensure test scenarios, data, documentation, and results meet quality expectations.

  • Provide clear status updates, risks, and recommendations to project leadership.

  • Continuously improve testing processes, standards, and reusable test assets.

Skills and Qualifications 

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, commerce, finance, insurance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

  • 1–3 years of experience in a Business Analyst, operations, project support, or analytical role, preferably within insurance or financial services.

  • Exposure to gathering, documenting, or supporting business requirements and process documentation.

  • Basic understanding of insurance operations and workflows, or a strong interest in developing this knowledge.

  • Experience supporting business-led initiatives involving system or process changes.

  • Familiarity with insurance systems such as Guidewire or similar platforms is an asset but not required.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, IT partners, and vendors.

  • Ability to analyze information, identify issues, and escalate appropriately with guidance.

  • Experience supporting change activities, including documentation, communications, or training support.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly and concisely.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured and timely manner.

  • Proficiency with standard business tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, documentation and collaboration tools).
