Position title: Housing Support Worker – Awake Overnight

Positions Available: 1

Job types: permanent, part-time

Reporting to: Manager of Support Services 

About us:

We open doors for youth and prevent adult homelessness. We serve at-risk youth experiencing homelessness, aging out of care, or fleeing violence in the home. Young adults who need a place to call home and people who believe in them. We offer safe housing, community, and support to help youth make healthy choices and shift toward a brighter future.

Position Overview:

The Housing Support (YHS) position will be the primary overnight contact person for youth. The goal of the program is to provide housing and support for youth who are MCFD involved. The role of the overnight position is to support youth in a housing setting to settle, manage stressors and potential crisis while supporting to focus on individual goals for the following day. This position will work in a team environment utilizing a holistic approach to support each youth's individual needs around mental health, life skills, community supports, housing and other identified areas.

Shifts Available:

  • Permanent, part-time, working Friday and Saturday, 10-hour shifts from 8:00pm to 6:00am.

The hourly wage is $26.74-$31.00 per hour dependent on experience and related skills. The successful candidate can expect to enter the organization no higher than the midpoint of the compensation range. The Awake Overnight position receives an extra $2.00 per hour, in addition to the base hourly wage, for working awake overnight shifts.

Education & Experience

  • A relevant bachelor's degree, such as Social Work or Child & Youth Care
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience working with vulnerable populations and at-risk youth. Other combinations of education, experience and training may be considered
  • Experience facilitating programming is an asset
  • ASIST training and NVCI training is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Based on operational needs, this role may temporarily be assigned to another location to ensure appropriate program coverage. For long-term location changes, the Society will provide appropriate notice to relocate to a different Society location for operational needs
  • Threshold will provide a yearly training and professional development allowance
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a wraparound care team

Special Requirements

  • Emergency First Aid certificate
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Immunization records, including TB testing
  • Criminal Record Check, completed Threshold
  • Agree and follow our policies and processes
