Description

Our client is a national mechanical engineering firm with offices located in Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton and Kelowna.

The company specializes in designing HVAC and plumbing Mechanical design for commercial, healthcare, institutional, residential, and mixed-use high-rise projects.

Currently, they are seeking experienced building HVAC and Plumbing Intermediate Mechanical Designers who are interested designing and drafting for their Calgary office.

Reports To: Associate Principal

Primary Objective:

As an Intermediate Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of various mechanical, HVAC and Plumbing design drafting and modeling tasks under the guidance of Senior Mechanical Design Professionals

Job Description:

· Able to work independently on specified scopes with minimal supervision required.

· Mentor and supervise Mechanical Designers and review their work prior to submitting

to Senior Mechanical Designers, Senior Mechanical Engineers or Project Managers.

· Placing and sizing of distribution systems and equipment following industry standards and Reinbold Design Standards and Guidelines .

· Perform load calculations using company provided software.

· Selection of mechanical equipment working directly with suppliers and manufacturers representatives.

· Preparation of schematic design, design development and construction documents in either AutoCAD or REVIT and adhere to Reinbold Design Standards and Guidelines .

· Assist with the preparation of drawing and book specifications.

· Coordination of mechanical systems and design with other disciplines.

· Assist with Contract Administration including shop drawing review, RFI responses and on-site review.

· May attend design and construction meetings with the client, other consultants and the contractors.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design of HVAC and plumbing for commercial, residential, and industrial projects
  • Education or background in one of the following:
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Trade background (Plumbing, HVAC, Pipefitting, Refrigeration) is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, construction documentation, and drawing interpretation.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational and document management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Bluebeam Revu AutoCAD or REVIT
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Fieldwire, Newforma, Autodesk Build, and or Part 3 is an asset.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.
