Job description
Quality Manager
As part of the Java Group, Victor Energy's staff have over 50 years of experience building some of Canada's largest electrical infrastructure projects. We are seeking a Quality Manager to lead our corporate and site culture to "doing it right the first time" and ensuring we plan and implement approaches for our staff to meet the project requirements in alignment with our values of innovation, community, excellence, and safety. This is an office-based position out of the Edmonton area or Calgary, AB, with occasional visits to construction sites.
Your responsibilities would include:
· Develop, deploy, and maintain the quality management system and provide awareness to all staff
· Train site staff in their responsibilities related to quality control and quality assurance
· Supporting hiring quality personnel including assignment to projects as well as performance management and training for quality-related activities
· Develop inspection and test plans including supporting check sheets to demonstrate meeting project-specific requirements
· Implement KPIs for monitoring quality assurance including management and tracking non-conformances, corrective action requests, opportunities for improvement etc.
· Lead internal auditing as well as facilitation and support of third-party audits
· Provide project-specific quality work plans for future project proposals and bidding
· Development of a quality document system in conjunction with document control and records management initiatives and systems
Requirements
Your background and credentials must include:
· 5+ years experience in utility construction of transmission, distribution, substations, and/or telecom
· 3+ years experience as a corporate quality manager
· Experience in construction quality execution at site is an asset
· P.Eng designation with active registration with APEGA for applicants currently residing in Alberta
Your background and credentials would also include:
· Experience writing corporate policies, management plans, project-specific ITPs, audit plans, and corresponding forms and check sheets
· Experience working on major utility construction projects is an asset
· Effective communication with project management, construction management, corporate staff as well as external clients
· Knowledge in quality-related concepts including ISO, Six Sigma, etc. Certification is an asset.
· Clear and concise written and oral communication skills
· Positive attitude, team player, and change agent
