We're seeking a Contract Web Designer & Developer to lead new website projects from concept to launch. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys shaping the full website experience—combining strong visual design with clean, efficient development. This is a contract/freelance position on an as needed basis. We offer competitive compensation based on experience and scope.
Responsibilities
Design and develop custom websites for new client projects
Translate brand guidelines and business goals into thoughtful, conversion-focused website designs
Build responsive, mobile-first websites with strong UX/UI principles
Collaborate with marketing, SEO, and content teams during planning and execution
Develop websites primarily in WordPress, including custom page templates with popular page builders like Elementor
Implement forms, tracking, and integrations as part of new builds
Ensure performance, accessibility, and SEO best practices are incorporated from the start
Manage timelines and deliver polished, launch-ready websites on time and on budget.
Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience designing and developing complete websites from scratch
Strong proficiency in HTML and CSS. Basic JavaScript a plus.
Solid experience with WordPress (custom themes, builders, and plugins, custom post types)
Strong eye for layout, typography, color, and visual hierarchy
Experience with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
Understanding of technical SEO and site performance fundamentals
Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote team environment
Nice to Have
PHP and custom WordPress development experience
Experience working with marketing or SEO agencies
Basic animation or interaction design experience
