SCOPE
Reporting to the Director, IT PMO, on project scope, budget and schedule performance and responsibilities, the incumbent oversees the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of large and complex IT projects.
Projects typically span 12+ months, involve medium-to-large cross-functional teams (10+), and multiple sponsors and stakeholders.
The incumbent is accountable for outcome-driven delivery, sponsor partnership, proactive risk management using leading indicators, and disciplined governance across hybrid delivery methods.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage operational projects >$1M from initiation through post-implementation, respecting timelines, budgets, outcomes, and transition/stabilization.
• Ensure project deliverables are complete/accurate and distributed to stakeholders.
• Lead and coordinate implementation/core teams; align priorities, dependencies, and decisions.
• Organize meetings; track issues list and action items; conduct QA on completed tasks.
• Produce regular status reporting against scope/schedule/budget/outcomes and required decisions.
• Manage budget forecasting and variance explanations.
• Manage risks using leading indicators; proactively escalate impacts and mitigation options.
• Evaluate effectiveness of implementation/core team members (including consultants) and recommend adjustments.
• Contribute to PMO procedure/best practice improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or in a field related to the primary responsibilities and more than seven years experience with managing large-scale IT projects.
• Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English and French.
• Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management.
• Knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
• Proven experience in people management, strategic planning, risk management, conflict management and change management.
• Proficient in project management software.
• Strong communications, leadership, critical-thinking, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
• Highly adept at planning (short and long term) and organizing.
• Team player.
• Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMP) is an asset.
