Senior Data Scientist – Markham, ON (Hybrid Preferred) | Remote Across Canada
Compensation: $140K + 5% bonus
Overview
A leading Canadian communications/technology organization is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to lead advanced modeling initiatives that directly drive revenue growth, customer retention, and operational efficiency. The Senior Data Scientist will deliver measurable business outcomes across churn reduction, upsell targeting, network investment optimization, and anomaly detection.
This role can be remote anywhere in Canada, with a strong preference for GTA-based candidates who can meet onsite in Markham on a hybrid basis when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end modeling initiatives across commercial and technical domains, including:
• Churn prediction & retention strategy modeling
• Upsell/cross-sell opportunity scoring
• Product coverage estimation & e-coverage optimization
• Network investment optimization & anomaly detection
Define modeling approach, algorithm selection, and evaluation criteria.
Balance key trade-offs (accuracy, latency, interpretability, maintenance).
Collaborate with sales, marketing, care, product, and network teams to align models with business value.
Own deployment, monitoring, drift detection, and retraining pipelines.
Ensure governance around ethical AI, data fairness, and privacy.
Mentor junior and intermediate data scientists; drive best practices for reproducibility and code quality.
Present insights to executives and quantify impact (revenue uplift, retention improvements, campaign ROI).
Required Experience:
5–7+ years in applied data science / machine learning.
Strong experience with statistical modeling, causal inference, time-series forecasting, and uplift modeling.
Hands-on experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks.
Experience building and deploying large-scale models in cloud environments.
Strong Python and modern ML framework expertise.
Experience with MLops tools and model lifecycle management.
Understanding of privacy, ethical AI, and responsible data governance.
Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and marketing analytics workflows.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; proven mentoring experience.
Master's or PhD preferred, but strong industry experience is equally valued.
