Principal Engineer – Nuclear Substantiation (Site)

Salary: Starting at £60,000, with potential for more based on your experience.

As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and integrity of our nuclear site assets. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

• Authoring and managing design substantiation documentation to support the site nuclear safety case.
• Reviewing analyses, assessments, and calculations that underpin nuclear design substantiation.
• Supporting periodic safety reviews to maintain our high standards.
• Taking ownership of deliverables, showcasing your autonomy and leadership.
• Implementing design substantiation requirements effectively.
• Collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Site Safety Case, Human Factors, and Engineering Authority Teams.
• Mentoring and supporting the development of fellow Nuclear Substantiation team members.
• Engaging with the wider business on nuclear design substantiation activities.

Essential:

• Experience in the nuclear industry and familiarity with nuclear safety regulations.
• A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven ability to produce high-quality technical reports.
• Determined to drive deliverables through to completion.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills.

Desirable:

• A broad understanding of multiple engineering disciplines.
• Chartered Engineer status from the Engineering Council and membership in a relevant professional body.
• Experience in nuclear design substantiation analysis and assessment.
