OUR IDEAL COMMERCIAL MECHANICAL MANAGER:
As our Commercial Mechanical Manager, you will provide leadership and oversight to our commercial division, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with company standards. You will support Project Managers and Supervisors, oversee financial performance, ensure operational consistency, and drive accountability across commercial plumbing and HVAC projects.
This role blends strategic oversight with hands-on leadership — strengthening processes, mentoring team members, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget.
We're Looking For Someone Who Meets These Qualifications
10+ years of experience in commercial mechanical (plumbing and/or HVAC)
5+ years in a leadership or management role
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction practices, and applicable codes
Proven ability to oversee multiple large-scale commercial projects in excess of 20 million dollars
Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and cost control
Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills
Experience in design-build environments is an asset
PMP certification is an asset
Journeyman Plumber or HVAC certification is an asset
Has experience in leading a high growth environment and change management.
And Who Can Manage These Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight: Provide direction, mentorship, hiring, coaching, and performance management for Project Managers, Supervisors, and administrative staff while developing divisional goals, communicating expectations, and building accountability through KPIs.
Operational Management: Oversee project execution from conceptual development through completion, ensuring scopes, schedules, milestones, and administrative processes (change orders, billing, coding, collections) are managed efficiently and in alignment with company standards.
Financial Performance: Oversee divisional financials including budgets, forecasting, labour productivity, cost controls, and profitability, working closely with accounting and finance to develop KPIs and communicate financial performance to staff.
Strategic Planning: Support business growth initiatives, resource planning, and process improvements within the commercial division, while driving continuous improvement and sustainable growth.
Client Relations: Act as the primary relationship contact for key clients and external partners, actively pursue new business in collaboration with the Client Alignment Manager, and maintain consistent communication regarding service quality, workload, and overall satisfaction.
Scheduling & Resource Allocation: Ensure appropriate staffing and resource planning across all commercial projects, aligning personnel, workload, and divisional capacity with strategic objectives.
Compliance & Safety: Hold construction and administration teams accountable for meeting safety standards, regulatory requirements, quality expectations, and contractual obligations.
Procurement & Vendor Relations: Oversee material purchasing through the administrative team, ensuring appropriate cost controls while maintaining strong supplier relationships that support divisional profitability.
Risk Management & Problem-Solving: Identify financial, operational, and contractual risks early, proactively address project issues, and implement corrective actions to protect timelines, margins, and client relationships.
