À propos

Individually we are people, but together we are Aviva. Individually these are just words, but together they are our Values – Care, Commitment, Community, and Confidence.
We are looking for a collaborative, strategic, and technically strong Lead Cloud & Platform Engineer to lead the creation and inception of Aviva's Internal Developer Platform (IDP). You will play a foundational role in shaping the platform's vision, architecture, and initial capabilities, establishing the patterns and frameworks that will enable developer productivity at scale.
This role reports to the AVP, Cloud and Platform Engineering, where you will serve as a key design authority, defining the foundational architecture, standards, and strategic direction for Aviva's Internal Developer Platform. This includes establishing core platform capabilities from the ground up — enabling self‑service, automation, observability, and secure-by-default development workflows. You will apply deep cloud architecture knowledge across areas including automation, observability, security, and governance, while contributing to a culture that challenges the status quo and continuously simplifies and improves how our engineering teams build and deliver software.
What You'll Do
Define and establish the foundational architecture, standards, and reusable patterns for Aviva's Internal Developer Platform (IDP).
Lead design reviews ensuring solutions meet enterprise security, resiliency, and governance requirements.
Drive the technical strategy for introducing automation, observability, and self‑service capabilities as core pillars of the new IDP.
Partner with engineering, architecture, and security teams to embed best practices into platform components.
Provide technical leadership on major IDP initiatives and modernization programs.
Mentor platform engineers and promote best practices that improve developer experience and reliability.
Champion continuous improvement and innovation across developer workflows and platform capabilities.
What You'll Bring
University degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
7+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, or DevOps, with exposure to platform engineering concepts gained through building automation, reusable components, developer tooling, or cloud platform capabilities.
Proven leadership in platform engineering and developer experience initiatives.
Expertise in AWS architecture, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and automation frameworks.
Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and service mesh technologies.
Ability to influence architecture decisions and lead technical strategy at enterprise scale.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Insurance industry experience will be a plus
What Makes You Stand Out
You stand out not only through deep technical expertise, but through your ability to elevate the engineering ecosystem around you.
Transformational impact on developer platforms at scale — delivering measurable improvements in developer productivity, workflow simplicity, and platform reliability.
Enterprise-wide architectural influence — aligning engineering, security, and architecture groups around clear, strategic technical direction.
Leadership that builds high-performing engineering cultures — mentoring engineers and championing modern platform engineering practices that drive automation, resilience, and continuous improvement.
